I am one of those that prefers to go to the smaller, non-chain type restaurant. But this place hasn't really impressed me. I've gone twice so far. First time I tried the polish platter, was alright kind of bland. Took a few month, but stopped a second time for lunch and tried the Detroit burger their website talks about. It was greasy/juicy little thing not to bad, if you are not on a diet. Serves the second it time lacked big time, but it was lunch time and almost ever seat was full of seniors or people in scrubs. Might give it a third try someday.

When I went to Marcus Grill for the first time a year and a half ago, the food was good and the service wasn't too bad either. Then, it went down hill from there. With each subsequent visit, the food got worse. On my last visit last year (late summer), I ordered their Stuffed Green Pepper. One of the world's easiest dishes to make right? Apparently not at MG. It was the driest meat I'd ever had in a green pepper. It tasted like it had been left in an oven or under a heat lamp for hours. It didn't just taste bad, it looked dried out on the top and the green pepper was all shriveled up. When the Manager (older woman) on duty came by and asked how things were, I told her what was wrong. She took it and said "If you don't like this dish then you can order something else". Its as if I ruined her day because I didn't tell here everything was fine or great like everyone else. It is so sad and unfortunate, this place had great potential, but obviously the owners stopped caring or paying attention to their food and service.

I was told great things about this place!! Well I guess I had high hopes but sadly their's not a lot to talk about. Or a the lest not of me. Maybe I need to try it again but I can't really talk myself into going back. The place it not the warmest place I've been to but it's ok. Maybe the food is just the kinda I like. The burger is ok but not bad but nothing I can't live without. My wife didn't have a lot of great thing to say either. I know Marcus is known for their Polish food. That may be the way to go.

Awesome food, great prices. That is all you need to know, but if you need to know more... Friendly staff, huge menu of choices, great specials, full bar, and they even do parties. I highly recommend!

That most certainly need a new chef! The food is horrible - EXCEPT the polish hamburger which our son loves. Sent back the stuffed Cabbage - Dry and tasted of Campbells Tomato Soup - Husband sent back the Perch Picatta which was just a complete joke. they charged him for the potato though because he took a bite....Really? Skip this place!

The Marcus burgers and chicken dumpling soup is very good. The place is clean and the staff is friendly and attentive. I have been here a number of times and always had a great experience !

Food was great but service is just average. No direction.

One of our favorite places to dine at. great food all around, try the parogis, breakfast, rice pudding, polish platter, etc

Just had dinner there, the Angus sirloin steak, was subpar to say the least, I took a bite of my wifes medirtrain salad, it was saltier than my daughter fries, my 3 rd time there, I keep on wanting to give this place another chance, since I live 1/2 mile away, but every time it disappoints. The waitress was great, the food taste low/cheap quality. I asked for blue cheese dressing, they wanted to charge be addition .75 cents. I asked what kind of vegetables they had, because i'm trying to watch my carbs, they said it include green bean and carrots, I asked if I could get broccoli instead of the mash, she said broccoli was additional dollar, so I asked another side of green beans and carrots-when my dinner came out it was only green bean.

I absolutely LOVE this place for breakfast, lunch and dinner! The lobster omelet is amazing and so is the dill pickle soup. The staff are always quick & friendly. It is a little pricey but great atmosphere, great food & great service comes at a cost.

We use to eat here a lot... until the meat quality in the meatloaf went south... poor quality, cheap ground beef. To bad it was a great place.

Our family really enjoys coming here... I even had my baby shower in the banquet room (although some things were pricier than we discussed). The food is consistent and good. Try the home made pierogies, they're very good.

YUM YUM YUM YUM YUM!!! The chicken dumping soup is a cure for anything, and I LOVE there lobster grilled cheese. The burgers are wonderful (they are the old fashioned type) Give it a try, and you MUST get the chicken dumping soup!

Very friendly staff, they went out of their way to make sure we enjoyed every part of our meal. The best part was the dessert, we had a piece of the best cake I've ever had in my life, they call it "Snowflake Cake". It was SO good! My husband called to see if they would make an entire cake for my birthday. The chef that knows how to make it was traveling, she came home from the airport and made the cake that same night so the cake would be ready for my husband to pick up. They go above and beyond!

Went here last weekend for dinner with friends. In the middle of taking our drink orders, the waitress turned to the booth behind us & directed her attention to them for what seemed to be forever. We seemed to have empty glasses quite a bit & the waitress really enjoyed reaching in front of me for everything...even to reach the far end of the table where my BFF sat. Yes, that's right, I said table; meaning, she cold have just as easily walked to the other end. She did finally figure this out at the end, which was good, because I was contemplating biting her if she reached in front of me one more time! I ordered the polish platter & felt the cabbage roll & polish kielbasa were very good. The pierogie were not bad. The sauerkraut was a little bland and the "homemade" mashed potato lump was bland & lacking. The meal came w/soup or salad. For an up charge, I got French onion. It was strangely sweet... Not bad, but sweet & different... Not what you would expect in a French onion soup. I would go back & for sure give a second chance.....

Good food for a very reasonable price. Service is too homey and disorganized and in need of a boost of professionalism. Cute place. Clean. Really give it 3.5 stars

Came in for breakfast. Didn't want to wait 45 minutes at the Pantry. We were seated as soon as we walked in. I ordered the corned beef hash and eggs. It was very good. It is homemade and not overly salty like at other places. My wife got the spinach and feta omelette, which she enjoyed very much. The restaurant is clean and the service was very fast for a Sunday.

From the beginning, this place had a weird feeling. We were standing in the foyer for about 10 minutes before someone told us we had to walk up past the entrance, around the corner, to just put our name on the list. We waited for another 15 minutes to be sat. We then ordered are food, but it never came. After about a 55 minute wait, I spoke to the waitress and told her we would not be staying. I think spoke to the manager who said "I have nothing to say, we got busy, do you want it to go?" Really, after no information, just excuses, that's all she had to say. I would avoid this place if ever in the area. They don't care about their customers.

I have been to this location three times, all for breakfast....so that is what my review is based-on. I have to admit, while somewhat jaded with my favorite breakfast joint just down the road....I was very pleasantly surprised with Marcus Grill! First, there is a private parking lot - so parking is a non-issue. I've never been there at night, but I imagine it's well-lit. The interior is nice. When you first walk-in, it is a little confusing what you are supposed to do - where you are supposed to stand, etc..... there isn't a clear check-in/hostess station....also - the first thing you see is a Christmas tree and the door to the kitchen. Small price to pay though for the delicious food and great service. Everything was YUMMY!!!!!!!!!!!!! Lighting is great inside the main dining room. There is also a bar area which is a little darker - but it's supposed to be! Nice place for a neighborhood gathering....it also looked like they have a separate area off the bar that you can rent-out for events..... As for breakfast itself, my eggs and potatoes were PERFECT!!!! Not a fan of their rye bread though - wish it wasn't as fluffy as it is - looks more like white bread in disguise...but it is still awesome! Prices are good too. I dinged one star because I don't like the coffee mugs, they have a strange shape which forces me to hold the mug in a way that feels unnatural to me. Also - there is (what appears to be) a year-round Christmas tree at the main entrance....looks like the ornaments are changed based on the season... I'm not a fan of this look...but I do know this is a popular way to decorate.... Also dinging one star because a busboy came around to fill coffee during one breakfast outing...he was holding 2 pots of coffee....he used one pot to top off my husband's mug, and while he was pouring into the mug he poured the other HOT pot on my husband. Most of it went down his leg and on the floor - but his outfit was ruined and we had to adjust plans to allow him time to go home and change his clothes.

Had soup and salad for lunch and it was very good. But the breakfast here is exceptional. Best in the area by far! Service is wonderful as well and I like the ambiance.

Made the mistake of trying this place twice the only thing that is worse than the food is the service. We sat for 10 minutes before anyone came to help us. When the food arrived it tasted like it was cooked yesterday and left under a heat lamp. NEVER again

I am totally biased and I know it-- I love Marcus. But I also know that I've had some meals here that didn't live up to my standards, which is why I docked a star. I eat here all the time, and there are two big reasons: their ranch dressing, and the lobster grilled cheese. They have the perfect, watery-diner-style ranch that I have grown to love, and I always make sure I get a side salad. Half the time we end up at Marcus just because I wanted ranch. My other major craving is the lobster grilled cheese. If you don't like butter don't even bother, because this sandwich is so rich and buttery it would make Paula Deen cry tears of joy. Another great (and cheap!) option is their Marcus Burger, which is literally just a hamburger in a hot dog bun. Who can be mad at that? I like it deluxe (with cheese, lettuce, and tomato). I've had some so-so dishes (certain sandwiches, their chicken parm) but nothing really BAD per se. As far as poor service, I've NEVER experienced that. I've gone many times with just my boyfriend and I and we've also gone in larger groups with our families and I've always found the staff to be attentive.

I eat at the Marcus every Saturday with my parents who live nearby. The atmosphere is upscale but the prices are low. Their daily specials for breakfast, lunch, and dinner are usually priced under $10. The best item on the menu, in my humble opinion, is the Marcus Special, which features several homemade Polish offerings on one plate. But if you're daring, go off-menu and order my personal favorite, the chicken quesadilla. Their soups also come highly recommended by my parents. They have a full bar and recently opened up a banquet center. Enjoy!

I am absolutely shocked that anybody would come here a second time! I ate there with my family because we wanted to try something new. We each ordered something different and none of us were happy with our meal! The atmosphere is pretty nice, but completely overpriced for the quality of the food. My dad ordered the stuffed cabbage (which they're supposed to be 'known' for) and said they were mediocre at best (Michelle's on Van Dyke is still probably the best place for those, outside of my grandmother's, of course). Me, my mom, and my partner all had one of the daily specials and none of us were impressed. Their spinach pie was barely even edible, and while the fish I had was edible, I could have made the same meal a lot more delicious and for far less money in my own home. We also ordered dessert. The carrot cake was hard and stale, I had the dessert crepes, and while the crepes themselves were good, they made the horrible decision of using straight-up pie filling which had a horribly chemical and over-sweetened taste to it. For four people and no alcohol, the bill was almost $90 and no better (in fact, worse quality) than the local corner dive. We also were never offered refills on our beverages (water, coffee, pop--nothing too complicated!) and there were very few other people in the restaurant. I believe it could probably be a good place for breakfast, but I certainly can't imagine any incentive for ever going there again.

We ate breakfast here today before a picnic at Stoney Creek, it was great. Good service and wonderful Greek omelet.

This has become out favorite place to dine! The menu consists of freshly made entrees with daily "specials" for breakfast, lunch, & dinner. Homemade soups are a staple at the Marcus. Pierogies, cabbage rolls, city chicken, & potato pancakes are staples of the menu, but steaks and fish also rule! The hardest job here is to choose just one entree, which is why you'll be back. After one or two trips, you'll notice that the staff will remember your name! Linda, Desi, or Julianna will stop by your table to make sure you're satisfied & engage you in friendly banter. Marcus is like going to grandma's with many more choices... The Marcus has a long history in the Detroit area, starting on 6mile, then moving to 14mile & Ryan, now here in Shelby Twp. Try the famous Marcus burger...ground steak shaped to fit on a steamed hot dog bun...don't ask, just try it! Marcus now has a full bar with daily drink specials.
